Hello!

My name is Joey Pepper-Mellusi and I am the Founder/Brewer of Schenker Beer Company.

For those that don't know me, here's some background on my journey and the genesis of Schenker. I got my start in the craft beer industry in 2011 working as a barback at @theponybarnyc . In my spare time, I began homebrewing and mostly focused on making fruited mixed fermentation beers. Eventually, I moved on to help open @torst_nyc in 2013, where I was proud to help establish one of the greatest beer programs in the world. While at Tørst, I also helped curate the beer pairing for our tasting menu restaurant, Luksus, which achieved the honor of being the first beer-only Michelin starred restaurant in the world. While I loved my time in hospitality, I knew that my passions were more rooted in brewing. In 2016, I left Tørst to pursue brewing full time at Folksbier in Brooklyn, where I became Head Brewer from 2017 until its closure. During that time, I was able to hone my brewing skills, develop my own recipes, and supply beers I love to the greater NYC area.
